50 Years of Carnivora: Dr. Helmut Keller’s Amazing Discovery

Dr. Helmut Keller first came upon the Venus Flytrap plant in 1973 while traveling through Maine to spend a vacation with his family. He had recently completed a one-year internship at the Schlossberg Cancer Hospital at the University of Munich in Germany. While there, he treated patients with many forms of conventional chemotherapy and radiation but was appalled by the horrific side effects he witnessed. On his way through Maine, he stopped at a flower shop where he observed a Venus Flytrap plant capturing insects. He was captivated by this process and watched for some time. Recalling his recent experiences at Schlossberg, he reasoned that perhaps this plant contained substances that could digest primitive proteins, tumor cells, and other pathogenic forms.

Dr. Keller continued his studies of the Venus Flytrap plant at Boston University. He soon realized that to continue his research, he needed more freedom than was allowed at an American university, so he moved to his native Germany. During Dr. Keller's studies, he noticed the plants glimmering in moisture and the many hairs on their flowers. He saw how each flower oozed a viscous liquid that attracted and glued small insects onto its body. He observed how the insect reaches into the plant's well, which contains an almost toothed floral head, where a jaw snaps shut and devours the insect.

Dr. Kellers' discovery was made when he realized that the digestive fluids within the meat-eating plant did not destroy the plant organism and, therefore, contained some form of discriminatory sensing for the plants' DNA structuring. He concluded that this plant had an advanced immune mechanism and, within his study, found that the plant would only digest and destroy primitive cells. At this point, Dr. Keller's instincts told him that using the pure extract from this exotic plant could benefit the immune system and human health.

Dr. Keller began investing his time, energy, and money in research to determine the application of the extract of the Venus Flytrap plant for improving a person's immune system and other uses for addressing many different afflictions and diseases. Dr. Keller stated, "Little did I understand then that applying the therapeutics of juice from the Venus Flytrap would become my life's work." It wasn't long after that the product "Carnivora" was born.

In the 50 years since Dr. Keller's discovery and development of Carnivora, it has been used throughout the world. In 1985, President Reagan had Carnivora shipped into the White House and used it for a personal health challenge. For half a century, Carnivora has been used successfully with an almost unlimited number of immune challenges, helping thousands of people (and pets) in 30+ countries not only get healthy but stay healthy.
